Meet Ray Chadwick, Esq.

Ray Chadwick was a partner in the Litigation Practice Group of his law firm until he chose to serve full time as a mediator and arbitrator. During his 32 years of active litigation practice, he represented plaintiffs and defendants in a variety of cases including medical malpractice, products liability, commercial, business, employment, personal injury, wrongful death, as well as, insurance coverage, property and construction disputes. Ray graduated, cum laude, from Emory University with a B.A. in history. He earned his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law and went on to spend four years as a Captain in the United States Air Force where he was assigned duties as a military trial counsel.

In addition to his extensive work representing clients in mediations, Ray underwent substantial mediation and arbitration training prior to becoming a full time mediator and arbitrator in 2010. He is a registered mediator and arbitrator with the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution. In addition to being selected by counsel for the parties to mediate and arbitrate cases, Ray has been specially appointed as a mediator and special master by judges of U.S. District, Superior and State Courts.

Mr. Chadwick has served as the Chair of the Dispute Resolution Section of the State Bar of Georgia and its executive committee. He has also served as a member of the Supreme Court of Georgia's Commission on Dispute Resolution. Some other professional activities of Ray have included service as a member of the Court Advisory Committee for the United States District Court for the Southern District of Georgia and chair of the panel appointed by the judges of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Georgia to review and recommend candidates for the position of United States Magistrate Judge.

Ray has served as program chair and speaker for numerous programs of the Georgia Institute of Continuing Legal Education on the subjects of preparation for mediation, mediation advocacy, keys to success at mediation, what mediators do to help settle cases, mediation of business disputes, early neutral evaluation and mediation ethics for both lawyers and mediators. Additionally, he has served as a member of the Adjunct Faculty of the Hull College of Business, Augusta University, teaching business law.

Ray is the author of “SUCCESS AT MEDIATION, How to Define and Accomplish It”, which provides observations and recommendations on how to best to represent clients in mediations and achieve successful results for them. It is available in paper back and Kindle.

Ray is a member of The National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals and The Georgia Academy of Mediators & Arbitrators. He also has been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® in arbitration, mediation, commercial, “bet the company,” product liability and personal injury litigation. Ray has served in additional leadership positions as President of the Augusta Bar Association, Chairman of the Augusta Port Authority, President of the Greater Augusta Arts Council, Senior Warden and member of the Vestry of the Church of the Good Shepherd, member of the Board of Trustees of the Episcopal Day School and as a class member and program chair for Leadership Georgia.
